| The
Seven Seas Mariner is an all-suite, all-balcony spacious ship, with
open public rooms and an emphasis on personal space for the guests.
The service is exceptional, and the warmth is genuine even though
there is a no tipping policy. On boarding the ship, instead of enduring
long lines, passengers are checked in hotel-style. The food on the
Mariner may be the best at sea, not only in the reservations-only
Signatures Restaurant, but in the 'Compass Rose' main dining room,
the Veranda and the international Latitudes restaurant. The dishes
taste as though they were prepared a moment earlier and wine is included
with dinner. The public rooms on the Mariner are very open and airy,
with soft colors. The library/Internet Café is beautifully
set up, with plenty of workstations, comfortable swivel chairs and
plenty of assistance and free classes. The main show lounge, the Constellation
Theater, has two levels and almost perfect sight lines from all seats.
The suites are well appointed, ranging from 301 to 1,580 square feet,
including balconies with walk-in closets providing ample storage space.
The higher categories have butler service. The ship has self-serve
washer/dryer facilities in addition to dry cleaning and laundry service.
Although Mariner is essentially an adult ship, children's programs
are offered in Alaska in mainly educational sessions for two groups,
six-11 and 12-17. Similarly, there is a children's menu in Alaska.
In Alaska the dress code is always country club casual |

run from a sprinkling of people in their thirties to more in the forties
and fifties, with many 60-plus affluent and well traveled. |
